C2C Sport Supports WaterAid’s Water Challenge
C2C Sport is more than just a netball and basketball uniforms company. As part of our advocacy we have partnered with WaterAid in supporting clean water for all. In March, C2C Sport is supporting WaterAid’s Water Challenge to fund raise for bringing clean water to many developing nations where access to this basic need is a struggle.
One in nine people all over the world do not have access to clean water — that’s 800 million people who still lack access to clean water!
WaterAid Australia Chief Executive, Rosie Wheen explains the organisation’s advocacy by saying, “WaterAid is an international not-for-profit, determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation. Only by tackling these three essentials in ways that last can people change their lives for good.”
So many of us easily take water for granted — thinking very little about leaving the tap running when we shave in the morning or, letting the shower run for fifteen minutes straight. But access to clean water is not as easy for some. Drinking water that is not safe means disease and even death from diarrhoeal diseases, kids missing out on school and, women and girls making long, dangerous journeys to collect water.
The good news is, each one of us can help to prevent these. In 2017 alone, WaterAid was able to help 1.5 million people have access to clean water through direct work in communities around the world. Their advocacy and policy work has aided even more.
This March, take part in making a difference and commit to drinking only water for the whole month. That means replacing your daily coffee, your after-work beer and your morning tea with nothing but water.
This is the second year that C2C Sport has sponsored the Water Challenge and this year, we are awarding backpacks and singlets to lucky participants as an added incentive and thank you to those who have taken on the challenge and taken the extra mile to support WaterAid.
